Emergency Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 5 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and an Animal Health Technician working together to save a pet's life.  Emergencies can be things such poisoning (e.g. mouse bait), hit by car, and foreign body ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.  If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We will also work to provide urgent care whenever possible.  Our veterinarians will try to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments or offer a "drop off" appointment, where your pet can stay with us until a vet is able to examine him or her.  This is an option for less urgent radiographs or urine collection.

If you require emergency service after normal clinic hours you can call our regular clinic number 403 327-PETS and you will be directed to an emergency facility in Lethbridge.

Read What Our Clients Say

  • "When we first rescued our border collie, we selected Highlands Pet Hospital because of their reputation and we have not been disappointed! Rod and his excellent staff have gone so far to caution us about exercises and games which can lead to health issues. The staff are superb and always keen to spend time with the Jyp when we come to visit. This level of personal care and attention is what I appreciate most from Highland’s Pet Hospital."
